Once upon a time, lived a girl who spent her days filled with anxiety about the past, present, and future. She could not be still or present, as her mind was always wrapped up in what was or what was not going to happen.
There was once a time when my body did not feel like a home; it felt like a constant space for anxiety and stress. I was always anticipating the next bad thing happening and playing scenarios in my head. My cortisol levels were through the roof, and I felt as if I had no escape. This all ended when I utilized these tips below to ensure I put myself first.
Just a quick reminder not to beat yourself up if you make mistakes, as all of us are here throughout our lifetime learning.
Slowing down is the best tip I can give. This is the easiest way to stop people pleasing. Someone asks you to do something, tell them you will get back with them as you have something else planned. Slowing down helps you feel your way through and make the right choice.
Now in my 30s, I can say I have a new understanding of stress management. Realizing that not everything is an emergency is the key. Bringing it back around to slowing down.
Putting myself first and not worrying about disappointing others.
What steps do you plan on taking to put yourself first?
